I’M JONAS.
I have many loves in life: skateboarding, guitar, keeping scam callers on the phone long enough to ask about their weekend plans.
But I’ve loved words for as long as I can remember.
I owe that to getting grounded as a kid. When you’re stuck in a room with no toys and zero hope of tasting freedom by the weekend, books fix that. Shoutout Mom and Dad.
I learned early on what words can do — where they can take me, how they amplify a feeling or quiet it. I love recognizing myself on a page through a stranger’s words. That last bit is part ego.
That kind of power is dangerous — and I’ve had an affinity for danger since childhood. I wasn’t trusted with matches.
The groundings were justified.
